At a basic level this is your body shuttling more oxygen to the working muscles and removing waste products. The less oxygen we get to the working muscles the more waste products accumulate and this is the start of the limitation of performance. 


It therefore makes sense to us that supplying more oxygen to the body will enable us to work harder.
